he huewai oia ke kanaka na Kāne.
people are Kāne's living water gourd. water is life and Kāne is the keeper of it.
my wai.
The wai I identify with is Kaneohe Bay. While I don't live in the area, I have spent most of my childhood on the windward side. I chose this area because my grandmother used to live in Kaneohe. My grandma and I would walk there and skip rocks, and my cousins and I would run and play around the area. Recently my dad received his boating license, and my family often heads towards the sandbar in the Bay to spend time with each other. Although this isn't necessarily a wai, I chose Kaneohe Bay because it has a lot of meaning to me. There is a lot of controversy around the freshwater flooding and erosion that runs off into the bay, which affects the community and environment. This run-off is responsible for the death of the reefs in the Bay. Currently Kaneohe Bay is in good health but is constantly monitored as major storms and rain could cause a "reef kill."

the water cycle
https://pmm.nasa.gov/education/water-cycle
The water cycle has three main steps to it. Theres precipitation, evaporation, and condensation
Precipitation is the step where rain falls and is the most vital step in the movement of the Earth's water cycle. This water eventually ends up in various oceans, lakes, and streams and then begin to evaporate. Evaporation is the next step in the water cycle, which occurs because of the heat of the sun. Water vapor ends up in the atmosphere and begins to cool and condense.
Condensation is the stage where the water that was evaporated becomes cooled by the air around it and begins to condense into clouds. As more water vapor is added to these clouds it begins to form water droplets. The water droplets begin to weigh the cloud down and precipitation happens again.
